Why parents choose renting before buying. For over 30 years, Musicare continues to suggest renting before buying. It is less expensive, noncommittal and a pathway to ownership should a student musician become serious about music. New instruments cost a lot of money. Children who have never played before may not enjoy music and wish to quit. Some children may need to change instruments for physical or other reasons. Others will only play for one semester or year and then move on. Accidents and instrument damage can happen. Resale values can go down. Most stores do not offer substantial refunds for nearly new but used instruments. The Musicare Rental Rebate advantage. Musicare offers a special inventory of clean pre-serviced "played before instruments with mouthpiece package" available to rent by the month, semester or discounted school year basis.
