Drum Kit

The 5 piece drum set includes bass, snare, 2 toms, floor tom, high-hat, cymbal and cases. The standard drum set commonly used today has been in existence since 1935. It was 'invented' in the USA, in New Orleans. Its history can be traced back to Africa where native peoples cut and hollowed out tree trunks and then spread the skin of an animal over it. If they wanted a more sharp sound, like our modern snare drum, they used pig intestines stretched under the skin. Drums were used to send messages, or to alert the tribe for danger, or to announce things.
